EUCALYPTUS honey
EUCALYPTUS honey, 100% Italian.
The properties of eucalyptus honey are many and to the eye it appears very dense, with an amber color that tends to turn towards gray. It is a honey that tends to crystallize after a short time and like chestnut honey, it is distinguished by a flavor that is not too sweet, intense with a woody and slightly balsamic aftertaste. To the nose it recalls the smell of dried mushrooms or stock cubes, while to the taste it is comparable to liquorice and malt sweets.
Eucalyptus honey is very rich in antioxidants, especially flavonoids. They are extremely useful for preventing inflammatory and degenerative phenomena and for fighting free radicals. It is therefore a useful food for fighting cellular aging and has numerous antibacterial and antiseptic properties.
It is widely used to combat seasonal ailments, such as colds and sore throats. It can also be a valid ally against coughs and catarrh, exerting a fluidifying and mucolytic action. Eucalyptus honey is also attributed with antipyretic properties, in addition to being indicated for those who have problems with constipation and related to the urinary system.
IN THE KITCHEN
However, eucalyptus honey is also widely used in cooking. Certainly interesting are the combinations with aged cheeses, such as grana and parmesan, but also with fresh and low-fat cheeses, such as primo sale.
It is also recommended to consume it in combination with low-fat yogurt or as an accompaniment to first and second courses based on fish and vegetables.
Eucalyptus honey is also often used to make sweet and sour sauces to accompany dishes.
Finally, it is recommended to consume it dissolved in herbal teas and teas with a strong flavor, especially those based on ginger and cinnamon. This combination is particularly suitable in the coldest months of the year, to combat common cold-related ailments.
