Instrumental Insemination is a technique to control the mating of queen bees and is a fundamental tool for anyone who wants to carry out a work of selection, conservation or creation of new biodiversity in beekeeping. This technique has led to great progress in beekeeping genetics and beekeeping, such as to be able to enhance desired characteristics and fix them over time, enjoying a high degree of heterosis thanks to the continuous renewal of the lines, both maternal and paternal.

Instrumental Insemination requires solid experience and rigorous control in the breeding of virgin queens and in the preparation of drones, in order to have correctly bred virgins and plenty of mature, healthy and well-nourished males for sperm collection. This technique allows to significantly expand the possibilities of mating for selective purposes, allowing the use of multiple different male lines in a single season or to carry out matings with a single drone (Single Drone Insemination).

We breed male line breeders that show the desired characteristics and that are in line with our genetic improvement program. We take care of every detail of the families so that the drones from which we will take the semen are in good health, free from pathologies and above all that they never suffer from hunger, thus guaranteeing us a semen of excellent quality, active and vital that can last over time.

Continuous training combined with the practice of instrumental insemination allow us to have a high success rate, between 80 and 90%. Attention to detail such as laboratory hygiene, sterilization of equipment, use of the best equipment and materials allow us to constantly improve in this delicate practice.

Constant and scheduled observation with various hygiene tests, resistance to varroa and laboratory analysis allow us to select the lines that will be reproduced and those that will exit the program. We also try not to distort the results by avoiding support nutrition and adding frames with bees from other families, to guarantee real observation of the expressed characteristics.
